The increase in sophisticated anti-theft devices fitted to motor vehicles has unfortunately caused an unpleasant sequel. Criminals have now realised that it is often far easier and quicker to strike whilst the driver is in his or her seat, this robbery of the vehicle's occupants is almost inevitable, while serious assault is a distinct possibility.

Coupled with this, the South African Police Service statistics have revealed that between 70% and 80% of all company trucks, LDV'S and cars hijacked may well have been done with the assistance of the driver and/or his crewmen.

At D & K Management Consultants, we have developed a surveillance technique that has proved so successful that our client's incidents of hijackings and general vehicle absence have been almost completely eradicated.

All vehicles that D & K's operators are required to protect are clearly marked, this is on its own enough to make would-be hijackers think twice.

Secondly, the fact that the drivers are aware that they are monitored by unmarked cars at unknown times and days helps to keep incidents of vehicle misuse and time theft to a minimum.
